Since the murder of Maria's brother, many are coming to repent and give their lives to the Lord. It has been really beautiful. Yesterday, we all gathered (the congregation from Sacha Runa as well as the congregation from Santo Domingo en Puyo) at el rio Pindo. The river was full of people tubing, swimming, and sunning. Thanks to our brothers in Christ from Puyo, the worship time was at high volume and full of enthusiastic praise. Everyone watched as the Word was shared, praises were sung, testimonies given, and then seven people were baptized. Then everyone spent time hugging (an american tradition that the people have really taken to and are enjoying - no prompting of our own).
The testimonies were powerful, lives transformed, not through wealth or changed circumstances, but through a relationship with the Lord.
Here are the children, a few have been baptized already, others were children of the mothers who were baptized, and others are part of the Compassion program at the Quechua church. It has been really wonderful to see these young people growing in their relationship with the Lord - some through their time at the church, and others (who's parents do not attend the church) through the Compassion program. Please continue to pray that the church can get some legal documents needed in order to pursue starting a compassion program in Sacha Runa. We are also talking with the Quechua church to see if they would have room to allow more children to participate from Sacha Runa in the Compassion program in Shell. If you have written letters to any of the girls in Sacha Runa - or have been on a team, you will recognize these beautiful faces."...Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." ~ Acts 2:38
After the baptisms, we went back to the church building to hear a message from the pastor in Puyo. It was so well done. It was explained that each needs to be in the Word - not just coming to church to be fed. Each person was encouraged to seek the Lord's purpose for their lives and then go out and serve.
The church is really growing and it is exciting to see. It is great to have a need for more chairs, yet a people who will stand for hours just to be in a room with one another, worshiping.
Thank you for your prayers, for your support - The Lord has multiplied each gift - and lives are truly being transformed - it is beautiful!
Love,
Celeste

Praising the Lord with you Celeste, is great to see evidence of the spiritual growing in that area.
The river looks just like the one I use to go when I was a little girl. I can't wait to get to Shell and take my kids there :)
I love the fact that the Pastor of the church is sharing that going to church is not the only answer, that we have to be in the word in our households as well. Hey we need a Pastor that says that over here without feeling bad to hurt peoples feelings saying that.
Thank you Sister for sharing how the Holy Spirit is there guiding and teaching.
